Some may hold the opinion that money is the only standard to determine one’s success. But others have a negative attitude. As far as I am concerned, however, I disagree with the statement that only people who earn a lot of money are successful. My arguments for this position are listed as follows: (1) successful people should have the abilities to help others, (2) successful people can fullfill their life goal, and (3) they are able to be respected by others.
First of all, no one can overlook the fact that people who are successful must be capable of helping others. For example, when a typhoon slammed into my country and seriously destroyed many people’s home, the people who can help others to recsnstuct their houses are often considered succeeful people by the whole country. However, the rich people who are miserly and unwilling to help people are often regarded as failures.
Futhermore, another obvious argument for being successful people is that they can carry out their goals. In general, people do not judge the success of a person only by how great of an achivement he has done. For instance, a teacher who instructs her students well and helps them to be useful people for the society is always regarded as a successful person by all of us.
Last but not the least, I think the successful people should be respected by others. For example, if a wealthy person uses it in a wasteful way; it goes without saying that we don’t see such behavior as a good one. If the person is willing to donate money to poor citizens, we will think they are respectful for sharing their fortune and think they are the people who have great achievements.
Taking into account of all my arguments listed above, I may reach the conclusion that people who are successful should help others. Futhermore, people are regarded as successful ones when they can carry out their dreams. Finally, they are able to be respected by others.
