[Vox Populi] Will Teoh royal commission end up like Lingam's?

'I doubt the findings of the RCI will be implemented. Look what happened to VK Lingam's RCI recommendations.'
Report: PM mulls royal commission
AnakBangsaMalaysia: We await the formation of the RCI (royal commission of inquiry) and equally important, its terms of reference with overwhelming scepticism.
Even from the deliberately-restricted scope of the coroner's inquest and the non-committal-by-design 'open' verdict, it is clear that Teoh Beng Hock suffered abuse and death by foul play, if not outright murder, while in the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's (MACC) custody on July 16, 2009.
So what is the point of an RCI that is limited to only 'reviewing the MACC procedures'? And how can the tainted-beyond-redemption attorney-general be involved, when it was his office that 'withheld evidence' during the inquest?
It's a hypocritical sop to try and assuage public outrage ahead of the Tenang by-election, while once again protecting the perpetrators of this crime.
Nil: No stones will be left unturned... and yet the royal commission of inquiry's role will be limited to investigation procedures? What does this mean? I can foresee the conclusion: Nothing wrong committed.
Yobama: "However, the Royal Commission's scope will be limited to reviewing the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's (MACC) investigation procedures."
Why limit the scope to such a narrow area? Go all the way, and reveal to the world who killed the late Teoh. Malaysians want answers, regardless of our ethnicity. We do not want this thing to happen to someone else in future.
The MACC must be accountable to the rakyat. They must operate within the law. We are already sick to the core with all the happenings that rob people of their lives, especially people in the care of government enforcement agencies.
Anonymous_4031: Now that the coroner has given his verdict which is neither here nor there, it is now the PM's turn to make good his solemn promise to Teoh's mother that "no stone will left unturned" to uncover the cause of death of his son.
Unless the royal commission of inquiry is called at once; and the cause of death and the person or persons who caused his death, the family will never be satisfied. He could rest assured that the ghost of Teoh Beng Hock will never rest in peace; in fact, it will haunt those who caused his untimely death.
Most of the people will be behind this young man's family. Unless justice is done and seen to be done, no right-thinking person will ever forget the cruel way he died. Mind you, this young man was going to register his marriage the next day. Suicide?
The child who was born recently would be wondering how his father died. May God bless his widow and his child.
Amaso: If the royal commission is established, will it be for justice for Teoh Beng Hock's family or to gain Chinese votes at GE13?
Devilsadvocate: On July 28, 2009, Najib met Teoh's family. During the meeting, Teoh's family appealed to Prime Minister Najib Razak to include the cause of death as part of the royal commission's terms of reference.
Najib reportedly explained to the family that they can make this request for the royal commission if they were unsatisfied with the result of the inquest. Why does the family have to request it? If we, the rakyat, have to request this and request that, we might as well take the place of the government and do it ourselves.
Chandran Sukumaran: I doubt the findings of the RCI will be implemented. Look what happened to VK Lingam's RCI recommendations. It will be a pure waste of time.
