[MP@Tony Pua] Urgent Motion Denied, Denied, Denied
Taken from Tony Pua's blog:
Saudari Teo Nie Ching of SERDANG filed for an urgent motion 2 days ago, due for a hearing by the Speaker today on whether it could be debated in the House. Almost as expected, the motion was denied.
There are probably some 10 or so urgent motions which has been denied the chance to see the light of day in the House. So far the most frequently use reason for rejection is "not urgent" - be it urgent medical treatments on ISA detainees (not urgent), death to National Service detainees (not urgent) or death under police custody (only very few such cases).
So far, the only motion allowed for debate was on the issue of the sharp increase in the price of rice and its possible shortage.
Today, the Deputy Speaker once again rejected SERDANG's motion, that is to debate the police action and inaction over the Bandar Mahkota Cheras - Grand Saga toll controversy, which has resulted in individuals being hurt by thugs in full police presence and another being beaten up by some 20 police officers. This issue has hit the headlines over the past 3 days or so.
The Speaker ruled that the motion is not urgent, and that since the matter is under court action, the House is not permitted to discuss the issue as it would then be sub-judice.
Both SERDANG and myself stood up to point out to the speaker that the issue that is being discussed here in police inaction and brutality and not the case due for hearing in the courts. Hence there is nothing sub judice about the case.
The Speaker would have none of it, despite more members from the opposition bench speaking in support of the motion, of course with the BN backbenchers at the same time vocally opposing our cause for the Malaysian victims.
SHAH ALAM (Khalid Abdul Samad / PAS) stood to ask the speaker to explain to the house, if death and being beaten up by authorities isn't sufficiently "urgent", then what is the criteria the Speaker use to define "urgent"?
Well, obviously the question didn't require an urgent answer, and I don't expect to hear it any time soon.

The Speakers have proven their worth as Wakil
Rakyat by denying 2 critical motions in quick
succession. Motion that is a great concern to
all and sundry - the Sabah IC issue and now
this.
STOP PUTTING POLITICS BEFORE THE WELLFARE OF
THE PEOPLE!
Speakers are suppose to be fair and sensitive.
YB Teng would have been great for the Federal
Parliament. Shame shame on the Speakers.

Ms Teo,
As expected the motion has been denied! Its ok
Ms Teo. I'm not surprise at all. Maybe the
motion was file by you, an opposition MP, or
maybe the Speaker want to see more blood! But
you must stop here, Im sure you can try and
solve this thru other avenues.

I think if the speaker's robe is on fire, the
speaker would not allow a motion by the
opposition to tell him the speaker's robe is
on fire!

Dear All,
Please give PR a break. They just took over the
State Govt for only 3 months and we have 5 more
years to go. Give them a chance to prove
themselves. This is "TESING THE WATERS" time.
Nie Ching, way to go. At least you brought the
issue up to Parliament. It only shows the Speaker's
attitude towards his so called definition
of "urgency". As though our lives are cheap and as
long as it's not their own kind who dies, they
don't care. However, let me remind PR of their
rights to rule state government. We have elected
you (PR) to act on our behalf, and not to be afraid
of the Federal Government.
As for the barricade, Grand Saga can build it 10
times, 100 times...we will tear it down 10 times,
100 times. The residents have already reached
their "boiling point".
So PR, please prove to us that you are doing
something for the rakyat of Selangor. There is a
popular phrase that goes "Do unto others as you
would like others to do unto you."

urgency for the speaker wud mean if his own
kind is in some kind of bullshit or danger.
other than tat, the rakyat can die off one by
one for all he care. bodowi oso not doing his
job to ensure justice is being served. i will
pity zainal abidin's secretary for answer all
the prank calls though.
maybe the govt is waiting for somebody enraged
enuf to burn down the grand saga toll booths
before it decides to solve the issue. i wont
be surprise if the toll booths get blown up
one of these days. a lot of rakyat wud be
happy if tat happens. hahhaha.

tototomato,
I think Grand Sakai must first watch out the
toilets at the rest areas. Many residents in
Cheras and Kajang already plan to do something
on these toilets.
Regarding the secretary, I think she is better
to change her job! Please seriously take my
advice!

may,
doing smt to the toilets is useless in my
opinion. the effect wud be more 'grand' if smt
were to happen to the toll booths instead. but
if anything does happen, pray that there will
be no blood shed. it's a pity that grand sakai
cant realise that the ppl they are fighting
against are actually the people who put food
on the table for its staffs/company. without
the ppl paying the toll all these years would
grand sakai still be here today? biting the
hands that feed it. tsk tsk.
without the residents of BMC i'm sure there r
many others who need to use the expressway to
and from their destinations. unless grand
sakai's livelihood only depends on those
35,000 odd residents? if tat's the case, isnt
grand sakai redundant? time to gulung tikar?

I would like to urge everybody, if can, not to use
the Grang Sakai highway( Why pay to them), use
SILK, Besraya or alternative road. We can't burn
the highway, illegal, can we trow rubbish ? hahaha,
lets do it.. im not crazy, i just want to express
my hate feeling.

BMC.frog,
U can do a lot of things like:
a. take care of the toilets at the rest areas.
b. call to 03-9086555 ext 051 to talk to the
sweet PA of ZA. 050 is ZA ext no but he is
chicken out to answer the call so call his PA!
c. get water from the toilets so that you can
save some money, may be you can wash your car
at the toilets at the rest areas too.
d. use 1 cent to make the payment.
