Asian Women
Asian values seem to emphasize the importance of traditional family life. Compared
with most Western countries, Asian women also play more crucial roles such as
caregivers, chorse doers, and baby sitters. Dut to the convetional concept that
"once getting married, never seperated", the divorce rate in Eastern countries are still
much lower than Western ones.
However, in recent decades, Asian women have emerged in the working fields and
started working 40 hours a week, according to a report on average working hours
from a Japanese newspaper. However, this increasing working rate does not
abridge the houseworking hours Asian women need to do at home. On average,
Asian men still do only 3 hours of cleaning, taking care of children, and other
miscellaneous chores while the women still maintain ther 20 hours of contribution.
This gap did not increase the divorce rate in Asia, though, becasue Asian women did not
tend to "abandon" their marraiage easily. Married women would simply endure
this long and tiring process till they are retired from company. But, the younger
generation simply flee away from this burdensome task.
