*最後一塊拼圖 (18): 大自然的啟示 - 之三
退化性膝關節炎的自然演變過程,長達四、五十年,
當罹患者求醫時,通常已是有明顯症狀(疼痛、變形)的中老年階段,
尤其是在因外觀變形而被轉介到骨科時,我們看到的已是整個自然病程的後段了 .......
萬萬沒想到,加拿大國家公園壯麗的湖山雪景,竟給了我珍貴的啟示,為將來的研究之路,開啟了一扇希望之門
之前提到的優美詩句:

膝關節的外型,隨時在改變,
軟骨似乎決定了表象,
然而,內側皺壁,才是隱藏的主導者:
它決定了哪些軟骨該走,哪些該留下,

大自然似乎暗示並鼓勵我:堅持這個方向,繼續探索下去 .......
感謝 Andrew 的安排,假期的最後幾天,遠離塵囂,在位於 Thetis Island 僻靜優美的 Cedar Beach Ocean Lodge 渡過,
水,似乎也主導著這裡的一切:
Thetis Island, 位在 Vancouver 西方的 Vancouver Island 東南端海灣中

最近才注意到,Thetis Island 、 Vancouver 及 Seattle ,其實是位於同一水域

欲到達目的地,須先自 Vancouver 坐大型 Ferry 到 Vancouver Island 的 Victoria

接著,從 Victoria 開車到 Chemainus,
在這很有味道的海邊小鎮購足日用品後,再搭較小的 Ferry,才能到達 Thetis Island

完全被自然環境圍繞,僻靜、舒適的 Cedar Beach Ocean Lodge

可俯瞰 Cedar Beach 水域的後院

白天的活動之一:Kayaking

傍晚時分,在水邊尋找水獺家族的蹤跡

夕陽下,安靜的水域

在此,渡過幾個靜謐的夜晚

小碼頭,我就是坐這水上飛機先行離開

就坐在駕駛員旁邊,景觀一覽無遺

俯瞰難忘的 Cedar Beach 水域

到達 Vancouver 的水上飛機場,由此轉往國際機場返台

這三天,在水的環繞下,我以放空的心境,訂下了往後幾年的研究方向,對未來,似乎充滿著期待!
