How do you interpret "Boys Be Ambitious"?
This aphorism said by William・Smith・Clark, an educationist,
is very famous and familiar to Japanese.
Most of people believe what Dr. Clark said means "To have a big hope for future",
but I think that's not what he REALLY meaned.
The year Dr. Clark reached to Sapporo, Japan, was 1876.
At that time, Hokkaido was a new-pioneered area,
and the level of living should still low in this place.
The best way to improve the living standard
was improving the knowledge of the people who living in;
and the most effective target of this method should be the students.
So I think what "Boys Be Ambitious" means is
"To setting a great goal for self and DO the best to arrive."
Yes, the most important difference is not only "have a dream" but also "take an action".
Thinking can build nothing but efforts do.
Maybe Dr. Clark hid a grand wisdom behind a simple word,
and hoped us to find out the own explanation for this.

did u "write" this article by urself!?
if u did, how can u get the English grade so suck in past two
years???
Yes, I did it by myself, and it's surely used much time to retouch...
The grade means how many percentage you finished what the teacher requested, and I just wanna do something I interest in.
So the result is what you known.
