Part 4-4 Tasmania(中.後段)

    Tasmania is a large located about 200 kilometers south of Australia. It is 364 kilometers long from its northernmost point to southernmost point and is about 306 kilometers long from west to east. Tasmania is also the name of an Australian state of the commonwealth of Australia since 1901. The state of Tasmania is named after Dutch explorer Abel Tasman, who discovered the island on November 24, 1642. Not many people live in Tasmania, and as of 2008, fewer than 500,000 people called Tasmania home. The capital of Tasmania is Hobart.

塔斯馬尼亞是位於澳大利亞南方約兩百公里處的一座大島。從島的最北端到最南端共長364公里,而東岸到西岸的距離有大約306公里。塔斯馬尼亞同時也是澳洲的一個州名,它所涵蓋的範圍,除了塔斯馬尼亞本島外,還有其他環繞四周的小島。這個地區從1901年開始,就成為澳大利亞邦聯中的一州。塔斯馬尼亞的州名取自於荷蘭探險家亞伯˙塔曼斯。他在1642年的1124號發現這個島嶼。塔斯馬尼亞的人口並不多,2008年時它的人口還不到五十萬人,而他的首都就是霍巴特。
(Line10) Tasmania is known as the "Natural State" or "Island of  Rejuvenation,"because most of it remains undisturbed by humans. About  36% of the island has been set aside for nature reserves. As a result, it is becoming a popular tourist destination for people who want to get back to nature.
