情有遷異,緣有盡時,而相知則可如新

This is adapted from Sharon's song created by my admired university student.

I was at your backyard, pieced together like a puzzle in the past.
I told you a proper place to put your unbridled craze; but
You said “I’ve got my own affright and misery to quench and to appease and wouldn’t trade my wild reveries for a trodden ambition.”

I was at your backyard, hesitating long to knock on your back door.
Despotic time trumps aspiration; I was fearing the same remark.
I gazed into your dust-covered windowpane and saw nothing at all
Having travelled a thousand miles, feeling like a diligent fool.

I am at your backyard, telling this with the authority of memory.
So would you let me come in, offering me a hot chocolate?
So did you take care of the fire to keep the warmth in my absence?
And I see you beaming, saying “don’t forget to say good bye this time.”
And I see you beaming, saying “don’t forget to say good bye this time.”
