placement dirary (day 2)
company: muf -architecture and art practice
time: 4PM --00AM
brief: counting and site experience
task:
help! help!help
(not like the sos type. it's really go for help)
This is such such an unbelievable long day. Guess, when did I really back home today? 00:05 in the very early morning. You may ask why?
Well. You know…. there always something happens when you are setting things up. This is the case. I arrived there around 4 and started to do another couple of counting for the following 2 hrs. After that, I suppose to meet up other people from the company. However, they didn’t really turn up. I have no idea and started worry, am I in the right site? Or…. I was really sacred to figure out the truth. I think I will be soooo embarrassed if that is true. Oh, thanks God. Some one turned up after half an hour and very kindly to make a phone call. We was been told that they decided to start it later when the sky goes darker. Well, that’s really fair enough. So, a question in my head, am I going to wait for it or not?
I decided to stay and I glade I did. We started around 8pm. Try to figure out how it works in our stage for the technical problems. During this period, there are more and more people coming around. They are all the people who have a big title named client. Well, urban planner, town developer…etc. Wow, what I can say then. I think its kind of good coz I got a chance to speak to them and hear from them. From the conversation with an urban planner (btw, he said he went to Taiwan several times and he loved it), I think I got a different angle to understand this project. For me, it becomes clearer. I think the project is all about how to make a balance between the linked two towns. How you use this tunnel space to encourage people and interexchange into these town center. I think I need to enrich my knowledge in the town planning. Wow, another task for myself.
After these talking, actually I am not really being able to see anything because of that bloody van. I am not really allowed to leave the van in any scents and any miles. I practically just stay in there and shaking my body because of the wind. When it all finished, it’s already like 11pm. Checked the train timetable back to London Bridge. Ha ha, luck me. The last train departs around 11:10. Run…..thus….yes, this is my second day.
When I waiting (between 7 to 8 pm), I had a bite conversation with Chlorine who is an architecture student in metropolitan university. She has been working in there for a year. I asked several questions about the company, like how they contact with the client and how they get the project. Something like this, try to figure out as much as I can from different position (now I would like to ask, who say I am shy? see I can speak to people easier). She told me a lot about how they usually work as a team and how’s the feeling to work in there. I think it’s not that bad actually. To work in this company but just they are fragile in their finical part. I surprised coz I thought muf has a really good reputation in the industrial. However, reputation didn’t really make the money. What I can say?
