Move your Blooming Ass
"Come on Dover move your blooming ass!" from My Fair Lady
When Eliza played by Audrey Hepburn shouted "Come on Dover move your
blooming ass!” at the ascot races, it sure knocked everybody’s socks off.
So Hepburn did not sing her own songs, and it was dubbed by Marni Nixon,
who cares?
“They Done Her In” from My Fair Lady
Eliza was talking about her sick aunt, she said “ what I say is, them that pinchedit,
done her in.” Of course, she meant she was killed. It’s a very interesting
and odd way of saying that someone kills someone.
Let me tell you, the way Eliza Doolittle says sure is killing me….
I’m down!
I’m feeling down.
He has been feeling very down since his wife went away.
At the end of the first half we were down three points.
If a computer system is down, it is not working.
You are going down. Just wait and see.
I’m down. (=I’m down with that.), meaning I’m in agreeance with the current
topic of discussion.
"So Crazy catlover, you want to go throw rocks at a man?"
"I'm down."
You guys gonna blaze? I'm down for it. (when you’re ok with down something)
"Wanna go to the movies tonight?" "Yea, I'm down."
-- a way of agreeing to do something.
甚至還有告訴別人你的”癖好”的意思呢! a way to tell someone of homosexual
status.
In a gay club: "Hey, I didn't know you were gay."
"Oh yea, I'm down."
Count me in.
You can count me in - I haven't been to a ballgame in years!
Check out the following conversation,
Josie : (Tired) Hello。
Josie: Hmmà hey! You're right, the sky is beautiful. So you're going to Rockaway beach? Count me in!
Cathy:
Josie: No, no. I said count me in. That means I want to go too, I want to do this activity.
Josie: Wait, you're getting lunch before we go? Count me in on that too. I'm hungry!
Josie: Absolutely! I haven't had a good hamburger for weeks, so you can definitely
count me in! I'll be downstairs in fifteen minutes!
******
(Josie, Jenny and Cathy are on the beach.)
Josie: He just wiped out. It happens all the time.
Jenny : Wiped out?
Josie: No, no. Wiped out. If you fall down, fall off of something, or crash, this is a wipe out.
Josie: Remember when you wiped out on your bicycle last month?
