七個字就是抄襲(Nicole)

copying seven words consistently is plagiarism

Wu Dan-ru, a well-known female writer, was accuse of plagiarizing the article from Tsai Yo-gi’s blog. After comparing with their article, more than one hundred words are exactly the same. In our formal writing, the words we often use are about 3,000 to 5,000. The possibility of writing totally similar is much lower than the possibility of winning lottery. Therefore, it’s hard to convince people of Wu’s excuse, which story is heard from her friend and a taxi driver.

From the view of academic field, the definition of plagiarism is that copying seven words consistently without citing origins. As a well-educated person, Wu is sure to have relatively ethical knowledge. What’s more, with the abundant productions and extensive impact on innocent students, she has to cherish herself even more. If making mistake, she should apologize to the public and set a good model to next generation. However, she just held a press conference to assault against the original writer. The behavior may attribute to bad impression of outside and let next generation think plagiarism is the right thing to do.

In fact, plagiarism is getting serious among students that they often post article from blogs and as assignment to hand in. Some even dare to submit the homework with wrong spelling words, highlights, underlines, and “Martian” which has no meanings. Of course, those kinds of students only retake their courses. If the last thing that a noted writer can do is post article and hold conference, what’s bothering publish?
