Christmas celebration
I am so happy this time we can talk about Christmas.
It is a big holiday and people will celebrate it with family, friends, and girl/boyfriend.
Moreover, people can hold a Christmas party and during the party we can exchange gifts and sing songs.
The main character is “Sinterklaas” who is a character from Dutch folklore.
We can also call him “Santa.” He is a jolly (happy) old man with white beard and in our image he always dresses a red fur suit and pairs of shinning boots.
To celebrate it, people will sing carols which are Christmas songs.
When you pass houses on the street, you can see people hung wreath, a circular decoration made from leaves, on the door.
Holly, which refers to a plant with shiny, poikted leaves and red berries, is also a famous plant on Christmas.
Then, every house must hang stockings which are Christmas socks.
Hanging socks is the best favorite thing children love because they believe that they would receive gifts from kindly Santa.
In the fairy tales, they tell us that Santa will come with eight reindeers and those reindeers pull Santa’s sleigh.
The reindeers are so cute and they have red noses which light the light at dark night.
People believe that Santa lives at the North Pole and elves will help him to handle everything.
However, where can you see Santa? We always see him at the shopping malls and maybe he sits in a castle.
Jason told me that people will leave some food and drinks such as cookies and milk for Santa who will slide down the chimney.
People also prepare some carrots for those lovely reindeers.
Why do we celebrate Christmas so popular? Maybe it is just a commercialization.
People, especially children, will spend a lot of money to buy cards and gifts to send to friends in that they will worry about they would lose some friends if they don’t send them cards or gifts.
Another famous character on Christmas is Jesus who was born on December twenty fifth.
His parents, Mary and Joseph, came to a place. Because there were no rooms in the inn, they had to stay in a manger which was a building to hold animals.
When Mary gave birth to Jesus, here came a group of shepherds who look after sheep.
Finally, three wise men came to see the God, Jesus, and they brought gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
It is a long story and I even don’t know which part is true, but I am happy there exists a story about Santa.
