Anita Mui's Lyrics - 夕陽之歌 The Song of Sunset
作詞：陳少琪 作曲：Kohji Makaino
The Song of Sunset
Composed by Kohji Makaino
Lyrics by Chan Siu Kei
The unlimited setting sun, it couldn’t be helped that only a moment is brilliant, disappearing gradually along with the clouds
The brilliance that passed away would not come back, every year every month, it’s hard to bear the changes of this life
Like clouds gathering and dispersing, bringing such a sorrowful and tired looks, a long road, I feel the light is gradually reducing
Happiness and admiration is bound to be short lived and never comes back, whoever sees that my dreams are plain
I have met with many tumultuous storms, it weaved the wrong dreams into me
I have experienced you holding me up, accompanying me through my hardships
Amid the hectic pace my heart dies down, on the road I meet with obstacles once more
One day I think about returning but it’s too late already, Ah, the me who is innately lonesome, my heart is shadowy
On the road once more is a corner, one day I think about returning but it’s too late already.

I am not sure if this song was specifically written for A Better Tomorrow III or whether Anita sang this even before A Better Tomorrow III was planned.
But this song is Matchy Kondo's song. 近藤真彦 Masahiko "Matchy" Kondo is the pop king in the 80's in Japan and Anita Mui was introduced to him through some agents in Japan and she was his girlfriend for 3 years. Matchy was a playboy and despite how she held her career low profile to spend time with him in Japan, in the end, they parted.
Anita has 7 loves in all and Matchy was one of the middle ones. When Anita died due to cancer, she wanted to see Matchy for a last time and didn't tell Matchy that she was dying.
It was very sad. She really loved him I think of all stars or she would not have made the last trip before her last concert while sick, and she died a few weeks later.
The words could have meant for her relationship with Matchy. But it also fits the movie very well too. If you had put it in the translator, it wouldn't have meant much but when I translate it, it is much prettier. This is one of my favorite Chow Yun Fat movie and the only movie I go back to again and again because of Anita's role and this song.
