Color Practice

Practising with watercolor pencils and soft pastel.

Posted December 9, 2008:

Me and my sulky mood.

Posted December 5, 2008:

A gondola. I used white colored pencil on black paper and then photoshopped the end result. A couple more tonight of barges and sunset.

Posted November 29, 2008:

I'm pretty pleased with this piece. This girl was in a second or two in Rain's video but I changed the flow of her hair and the color scheme. I drew it with pencil and then photoshopped it.

Posted November 6, 2008:

The first 2 are fall leaves by the roadside and I did them with soft pastel . The third one is a yellow and green plant along the way and I drew it with pencil and then I photoshopped it. The last one is my favorite for today. The crow flew by my head when I was sketching this tree and it landed on the branch. Plain pencil and I inverted the colors with photoshop and used a reticulation filter.

A couple of colored pieces I did with colored pencil, pencil and then photoshopped.

Posted September 29, 2008:

I designed this all by myself. Pencil, watercolor, then outlined with blue dip pen, and photoshopped with cutout effect. One of these days, I have to figure out how to include a background to it.

Posted June 29, 2008:

This is watercolor and watercolor pencil and I put it through photoshop first and the line one is by GIMP. The last one is a staircase from Kwon Sang Woo's Bad Love drama. I drew it painstakingly and then added color and put it through photoshop.

Posted June 28, 2008:

This one is fountain pen and a few watercolor pencils with a wash and I photoshopped it with darker tones. Based on the set of the Pirates of the Carribean.

Posted June 6, 2008:

This is a 4 inch by 2 inch watercolor piece of a leaf with raindrops I picked up on the way home. The original has softer colors but as usual, I like stark colors.

Posted June 5, 2008:

I did this in pale blue and pink in watercolor, color pencil and detailed with pen but it was too light so I photoshopped it.

Posted June 1, 2008:

I drew my daughter in oil pastel by the pool side and it's prettier after photoshop.

Posted May 20, 2008:

These were from last night and this morning. The first three are watercolor sketches en plein air outlined with Sharpie ultrafine marker and Prismacolor pencil and then photoshopped. The fourth one is my continuation of inventing cityscapes in watercolor. The fifth and xixth are in soft pastel and also my invention in soft pastel and photoshopped.

Posted April 29, 2008:

Trying to draw cityscapes of my own. Dancers and a race car from Engine.

Posted April 12, 2008:

The scanner washed out my soft pastel pencil piece and I enhanced this with photoimpression. 2.5x4 inch on a cheap piece of beige colored newsprint.

Posted March 28, 2008:

A soft pastel piece that looks totally washed out and so I gave it a watercolor effect.

Posted March 28, 2008:

I couldn't stand only black and white on the banner for this blog and tonight, I drew a row of Korean girls with colored pencils and digitally enhanced it. Quite pleased with it.

Posted March 25, 2008:

I shall keep this thread as my experiments of colored pieces digitally enhanced. This is another imaginative piece of mine done in colored pencil of aquablue and peacock blue but in the end, I reversed the colors to show more of the lighting effect.

Posted March 27, 2007:

I've been frequenting an art forum the last few days and the artists over there are really very good. I don't dare post any more of my efforts over there so as not to bore them but I'll post it at my blog to brighten up this place. I am tired of drawing only black and white and realistic objects. My goal is to create imaginary characters and imaginary cities like these. I drew these in pencil and then put them in highlights and different effects with Photoimpression. It's not designed to be perfect because this these are only rough sketches as I learn how to draw buildings and fabrics.
