moved
So, I haven't used this blog as often as I thought I would and I blame
it on the theme. I can't find any nice themes here and they are way too
hard for me to customize. Anyways, I have moved to tumblr =) come and visit!

I never even dreamed of ever getting called to Frankfurt. I don't speak German and I'm way too junior. I guess that was just my lucky day! I've shared my Frankfurt flight story to many of my friends of already so I'm too lazy to retype everything.

Argh.. I'm too tired to write, so this will be a photo entry instead.

Destination #1: PEK....revisited
My very first flight on my new job was to Beijing, China. It has been at least 15 years since I visited. I still remember the first time visiting was with my parents, we went to The Great Wall of China, The Forbidden City and all those other tourist attractions. This time however was for business. I laid over for 24hrs and I was hoping to tour around the Olympic Stadium of 2008, but I chickened out from traveling alone. Anyways, so the story started on June16, 2010, my very first day on reserve. I received a call from Crew Sched (schedule planners of AC) at around 12pm, the gentlemen spoke and said "Are you ready for your first flight? You are going to Beijing. The flight number is AC031 departing at 14:50 and your check-in time is at 13:30!" I said Thank You and hung up the phone with shaking hands, I looked at my mom and we started jumping up and down! My heart was beating like no tomorrow, I was so excited but at the same time I was so nervous! I managed to get to the airport in 1 hour and met all the beautiful people that I was going to work with for the next 3 days. The crew members were super nice, I couldn't ask for a better crew. We got on to the Boeing777 and before the passengers started boarding all the other crew looked so busy in the galleys, they were stocking up on drinks and getting all the meals ready. I just stood there and didn't know what I should do. Then the In-Charge announced "They're boarding". The passengers started boarding and I was so confused! I didn't know what to do.. then finally "Safety First" popped into my mind. I got to do the briefings, I had to do my very first mother with infant briefing but in MANDARIN. I got stuck and couldn't successfully translate "Oxygen Mask" and "Life Vest" into Chinese..... EMBARRASSING! so anyways, I finally got that over with and managed to close all of the overhead bins and sat myself down for take-off. Right after the seat-belt sign was turned off, I had to prepare myself to do my very first bar service. The service went well and I didn't spill any drinks on any passengers, SUCCESS!! After the bar service, people started dozing off while we prepared for the first hot meal service. As we went through the Economy Cabin giving out the hot meals, I came across a weird scene, I found people laying flat on the Cabin floor in front of their seats sleeping!! I highly suggest who ever is reading this not to pick up such a gesture because for one reason its very dangerous, if ever the aircraft goes through sudden turbulence you will seriously get injured. And for the second reason, the Cabin floors are filthy, it may not seem so because its a dark coloured carpet, but the groomers don't ever take the time to wash those, they are simply vacuumed even when someone pukes on that floor! Anyways, so my first flight went very well and I managed to get an hours sleep during my crew rest time =)

Stay tuned.... Frankfurt, Germany
May22
My girlfriend got married! I'm so happy that she found her other half, even though she's still young but I know her mr.wong will make her luckiest girl in the world! Congratulations mrs.wong! She's the first out of our group of 6 =). I wonder who's going to be next..... t.lau, b.chan?
May to June2010
I've stopped blogging for quite some time and the reason being is I was in training for in-flight services - FLIGHT ATTENDANT =). Many people around me have asked why I have chosen this to be my job post graduation from university and really the only answer I could give them was "I would like to travel the world". But really, it wasn't originally my idea. One day in mid-January of 2010, t.lau came up to me and asked if I would like to go to Air Canada's mass hiring with her, then I thought "hey, that wouldn't be a bad idea for interview experience purposes". So anyways I tagged along. As the days drew near for the interview I got nervous and started to research on being a flight attendant, that's when I started imagining myself being one and thought it would be quite interesting. After the long anxious wait for about an entire month, I finally heard back from AC and was enrolled for initial training in early May (of course t.lau got in too =)).
Initial training was very different than what I had expected, rather it was very intensive. My parents found me sitting at my table studying a lot more often than my entire post-secondary career! Training was so awesome flight attendants are usually seen has high-class steward/stewardess on air, however, they are a lot more than just servers. We learn more than just service, rather in training we only had ONE day of service training. For the 6 weeks of 5 day OT training, we were trained solely on safety and first aid, this all includes aircraft safety from doors to small safety equipments, emergency situations to shouting commands. Boy, was I every stressed from the workload and the possibility of getting dismissed! But obviously I have came through and graduated from training (everyone in my class passed!!! 22 for 2.2!!!).

I will update later.. because I just got called in for a flight to Frankfurt, Germany.
I really don't like waiting!
Not that I am an impatient person, but then it just makes me anxious!
I want to know the answer now, t.lau when are we going to know?!
Also, within one and a half week my undergrad life will finally end.
I've been waiting for this moment for a long time now.
I won't need to pull another all-nighter,
I won't need to stress about that assignment that is due in the next hour
I won't need to walk into an exam room anymore!
Thank you University of Toronto for the many experiences you gave me.
But I don't like you! BYE. *soon*
So the days here in Toronto are getting warmer.
Today there was a high of 15 degrees Celsius on a early March day!
I mean, it's great to have warm weather again,
but then, after all the trouble that babe and I went through to get me a pair of skates...
I DIDN'T EVEN GET A CHANCE TO GO SKATING =(

)
