blog feels rusty and these days i feel very rusty too :(

credits to kelly, who wrote exactly half the song. every alternate line was by her without consultation. tts why some lines are very me and some lines are totally not me. ;p

This song is written for a environmental charity concert by HCI...this is the sneak preview.
In case you are interested, the details are:
Date/Time: 31 May 2008 at 1930 hrs (That's 7.30 pm for those who take more time to convert that to read this long sentence.)
Location: Shaw Foundation Symphony Stage, Singapore Botanical Gardens
Website:

www.gethigh.youth.sg/change

Lead the change now - do your part for this very environment we all live in. Resources are limited, don't take them for granted. Resist change, and you will either be obsolete, or eventually extinct.

And who said change is the only constant? It is never a constant...change itself is changing.

Melbourne trip (31/8/07 - 6/9/07) Part 4 (End)

5 Sep 07 Wednesday

woke up, drove around warrnambool a little, and drove on to port fairy. port fairy is a picturesque little fishing village, very tranquil and very attractive. there are many heritage buildings too, like this one.

up a river with the fishing boats docked.

here i decided to slow down my pace to take a morning walk and relax myself...the only thing that wasnt so relaxing was the cold wind blowing from the bass straight. but other than that i felt totally at peace. scenery not as beautiful or powerful as the great ocean road, but perhaps its because it is not so powerful that it is comfortable. the waves are less fierce, the whole setting is not as majestic...maybe that is why this quiet village is attractive after the whole stretch of great ocean road. if all things must come to an end, then this would be a good ending ah.

walked for about an hour...10.30 and time to get back on the road. today will be the day when i will cover the most distance, but most of it is highway/freeway so it is not so bad.

lunch was at colac.

i walked into a chinese restaurant and had a good chat with the boss, who is chinese. he specially prepared my lunch, which was off the menu, and only charged me the minimum spending for dining in.

it is originally in my plan to drive up to geelong by princes freeway then turn up to ballarat...but due to the position i suspected there is a road leading up to ballarat that joins around here. so i asked the boss and sure enough, there was. so after lunch i turned left a few junctions ahead to colac-ballarat road and drove along the deserted road for about an hour and a half. pretty straight road, so speeding at past 100 isnt a problem. that is the speed limit for straight roads outside built-up areas anyway.

followed the signs to sovereign hill, which is another interesting museum.

they basically recreated everything based on the gold rush. horse-drawn carriages, manure on the road, ppl in costumes, smiths and shops working using the old tools and selling the wares, etc. big project, but big experience.

some structure in the gold mine

the machinery of it

i was in time to watch a gold pouring demonstration. for once ah, after missing the times of so many things.

one of the recreated workshops. this one builds wheels for the carts i think

spent a good part of the afternoon there until they closed at about 5. yah...at 5 in australia u cant hope for much...many places are closed. drove a little around the city to see the old fire station, and then up the western freeway towards melbourne. speed limit is 110 but everybody is doing 120 on the left lane and nobody overtakes. so i just follow lor (follow law)

at a junction turning to melbourne, i missed it...got a long queue of cars waiting to turn (near the city centre already mah, and pm peak hour) i tot ji pai siao liao, cos totally dunno where i driving towards, but heng it turns out that road further up leads to king's st itself where my hotel is. good la.

remember these spider webs? u could imagine how excited i was to see them again. it means im at least near the city centre.

i tried to rush back by 6 to return the car, but i was 20 min late. so had to park my car (illegally ah, it is meter parking before 7) across the road from the hotel, and have to make it a point to wake up by 7 to remove the car before it gets towed away.

back to the hotel. when the receptionist issued me the room key, he was asking me,
"what?! u stay in a triple room..all by yourself?!"

apparently i booked thru octopus travel, an online travel site, and they found out that they have no more double rooms. so i think from the price indicated on their invoice n the price i paid, they actually made a slight loss.

nothing to do at night again...tempted to visit the gentlemen's club leh...but better not la. after all im racist against ang mors...haha. no lar ah. i prefer asian girls. haha. so its not that im not interested in such places, just that i dun like the selection of girls. so rather than spending money, i went to collect more money from crown. this time its about A$207.50. not about actually, its exact.

took a taxi there just to experience the taxis there...driver is friendly and professional...he quote me A$10, i agreed but i asked him on the meter cos i just wanted to see how it works, and its about that price - never overcharge. the meters really jump quite fast lor. a trip so near costs me A$10. A$3.10 flagfall, A$1.465 per km (its about S$0.455 to S$0.571 here depending on tariff) and A$0.525 per min of waiting (here S$0.24). i read online that such taxi rides are considered cheap compared to other cities! wow. maybe i shud have just driven there la, but i think parking costs me even more.

6 Sep 07 Thursday

Took the same route as the 2nd day, but visit different places. Took a look at the Old Melbourne Goal, which is now converted to a museum. I hear there are spooky tours at night, but I better dun try.

some random open space with a sculpture

this is winsdor hotel, a majestic building in the city.

also visited the city museum at the old treasury. it used to be a gold vault for storing the gold found around melbourne. the receptionist immediately recognised me as a singaporean cos i slipped a "lah" in my speech. then found out she stayed in sg for some time before migrating over. btw the girl is quite cute ;p

if only these are real and these are mine.

can u figure out how the roof actually runs? i think if crop away the sides its even more confusing.

took a stroll in the fritzroy gardens. if spring is coming it should be quite colourful.

inside the nursery

melbourne city from the south bank. the building in front is flinders st, the cathedral is st pauls.

supposed to take a river cruise, but ended up the lunch took too long to come and i missed the ferry. so went to somewhere quite near to idle the 1 hr or so away...collected A$25 again to avoid breaking my A$100 bills for the bus ticket to the airport. ;p

thanks to crown melbourne for entertaining me when im bored, subsidising part of my trip and at the same time making my trip additionally enjoyable. i look forward to the continued support when i visit crown macau ;p

remember the old power station i passed by when i arrived? i think this perspective looks a little more suggestive.

quite useful to send certain msg to certain ppl i guess

not too appropriate to end a happy trip with that kinda photo la, so insert a few more ok.

this is the departure hall at melb airport, which is an extremely modern, clean and efficient airport. comparable in terms of experience to changi, just that its location isnt as good so the traffic isnt that high. goodbye melb, for the sheer scenery and also the things that i have missed along the way, i will most likely be back one day. see you soon.

SQ228 supposed to depart melb at 1550 and arrive sg at 2140, but it got delayed for half hr before it took off...i actually fell asleep...too tired le la.

this is from the plane, a desert near ayers rock. is that a flowing river in a desert? i couldnt imagine it to be anything else actually

Melbourne trip (31/8/07 - 6/9/07) Part 3

4 Sep 07 Tuesday

woke up at 6+ today. didn't really sleep well as the heater was extremely noisy; switched it off and it became extremely cold.

but no regrets, cos the sunrise today is plain beautiful.

like a pot of gold beyond the clouds.

a broader view

facing away from the sun

went to mac for breakfast and then surf city to wait for it to open at 9am. stupid move. nothing inside one. though interestingly they have a library there.

and off i go on the roads! this is an example of a shot thats taken with my vehicle moving. see the front of my car?

this is the famous bells beach where the annual surf championships are held.

journey series #3: road into the enchanted forest.

i guess u would have been quite sick of the sea, so there are countless pictures of the ocean omitted from here. drove on and at about 11am i'm at split point lighthouse at airey's inlet. this is what the inlet is about.

the seawater flows into the land during high tide and remains there during low tide. so its some form of a lake. see the contrast? the peacefulness on the right vs the restlessness on the left. but they are all salty.

this shows the raised part of the beach that prevents water from flowing back during low tide.

the official start of great ocean road. great ocean road was built by war world I soldiers to commemorate their comrades.

one of the many bends on the road.

the big hill, which is quite a high point on the road.

looking forward.

from a lower point. but the road goes on towards lorne.

see the town at the background? thats lorne where i stopped for lunch. had a roasted spring chicken for lunch..and it was very very saltish lor. maybe cos located near the sea mah, so salt cheaper and more readily available.

after lunch its time to explore what the area around lorne has to offer.

this is one of the shots i took to avoid forgetting where the place is. lazy method? saves on my captions too. ok, type so much rubbish, oredi longer than captions le. but this place deserves this amount of space. it is the second best lookouts along the road, the best being mariner's lookout.

from the top of the cliff. i like the colours and the shadow.

looking towards the next hill. this road is the stretch of great ocean road between lorne and apollo bay, which many describe as the most scenic part of the drive. i would love to agree. the scenery is beyond words. even beyond pictures, that's why i didnt post that many here. and to drive a vehicle here is just different from sitting inside one to be driven around. there are countless pullovers to take pictures, i stopped at many of them, but decided that i do have to rush a little.

after so much of the sea, lets look at sth else.

also near lorne is the erskine falls.

yes, i have decided to appear in the photo again. do u miss me after seeing so many photos without me? wahahhaha. *puke*

looking back...

its been a long way...sigh.

sometimes barriers are important.

from the inside of the car.

just for fun.

this is another pathway to heaven. why i say its heaven? u will find out soon.

look at that

this is mariner's lookout, its on a hill overlooking the entire apollo bay. it feels just like the top of the world, looking at the cascading waves, breathing the fresh air...this place certainly deserve a few more pictures.

still from the lookout, but in the other direction back towads lorne.

from the edge of the hill.

car low on fuel, so stopped by to top up. first time at a petrol pump! dun even noe how to open the lid...haha. the first time i topped up petrol is at mobil apollo bay.

after that the great ocean road heads inland towards the otways forest. this is probably the last time im daring with my camera in my left hand while i drive.

i was in the forest playing initial d lor. actually started playing initial d since long ago, when my car went up arthur's seat. i was negotiating a bend marked 55 km/h at 80, found that i was too close the end for comfort, so reflex action is jam brakes and turn my car to the right. end result: my car spin two complete rounds and landed in the forward direction, heng never hit anything.

but never hit anything also got damage.

imagine the force that caused the rim to go out of shape. scary. it took me quite a while to calm my nerves. *phew*

nvm, at least learn a lesson there better than on expressways here. rule #1 for driving auto car: dun step brakes when turning, cos the clutch is released and there is no engine brake.

drove on, tried to be safe, to be next destination: the twelve apostles. these are huge stacks and stumps due to erosion. so happened to be sunset, dunno whether good thing or bad thing.

nature is powerful.

haiyoh, the person taking photo for me hor, dunno how to get the sun out of the way one leh.

this is the loch ard gorge, where the loch ard disaster took place.

there are many places in port campbell national park that i missed, like going down the loch ard gorge, see the blowholes, and see london arch and a few lookout points...cos its getting dark. nvm, i will come back some day!

had abt 1h 40 min to get to warrnambool as well as to makan dinner...so had to drive on. this part of the road is inland and straight, so slowly picked up confidence and drove at the speed limit of the road, 100 km/h.

as i drove, there was this part where i went upslope. there was no visibility of wats going on beyond, and its dark. i was driving at 100, and there is this guy who overtook me at like 130 on the one lane road. wah, hiong...if got oncoming car then good luck to him le. he dun want his life, i want. scared oredi.

once in warrnambool, which is a big city, i was slightly lost again. stuck on to the main road, saw a BK (they call it hungry jacks) so made a turn in for dinner and to ask for directions. made it to flagstaff hill in time for the 8pm show.

the laser show at warrnambool flagstaff hill museum was good...like i said the museums there got standard one lor. impressive. but no photography allowed. and the way they communicated to us was also quite cute.

"welcome to the 18th century. as you know, there are no such things as flash photography or videography in that era."

and as usual, accomodation not booked. this was my room for the night, which is just across the road from the museum. this one has a double and a single bed, and its still somewhat excessive.

after the scary incident on the road, i only wanted to get back to melbourne and return my car asap...but things were to change very soon and i enjoyed driving once again the next day.

Melbourne trip (31/8/07 - 6/9/07) Part 2

3 Sep 07 Monday

woke up, packed luggage and dragged it 3 streets down to elizabeth st to pick up a rented car. first time driving auto car...no practice lor, first thing come out is melbourne city in the morning rush hour le.

in melb in order to give way to the trams there is such a thing called hook turns - meaning to turn right, u must go to the leftmost lane, then wait in front of the vehicles in your perpendicular direction. then once the lights of the road u r turning into turns green, u move first. confusing? hear me describe also confused le hor?

its about 10am and im on my way to mornington peninsula. not confident with the roads, so covered very little in the first two hours. drove slowly, took 2 wrong turns, and explored the residential areas a bit.

the only bad thing about driving alone is that i dont have sb to snap photos of the scenery. i can only do it when its red light or by being a hero with left hand on cam and right hand on the wheel.

this one is definitely the safer of the two.

along the mornington peninsula there are very nice houses by the sea...and many beaches. this is one of them.

how are u feeling todae? why are u so lonely like me? where's your mate?

being too greedy, i took many turns to explore the place. end up by noon i only reached mornington when i planned to reach sorrento. ate lunch at this scenic place.

full and ready to hit the road again...this is the view from arthur's seat of the mornington peninsula. nice colours. this is on the left of the lookout.

the colour of the sea is but a reflection of the sky.

thats me with the right of the lookout.

the aim is to reach cape shanck lightstation by 2pm to catch a tour of the lighthouse. but i was 15 minutes late. but the area around the lighthouse did give awesome pictures.

the guiding light that stood unshaken before the vast ocean.

the calmer waters

and the raging ones

stairway to the ocean (as opposed to pathway to heaven in part 1). look at the big patch of white around the blue.

dear rock, how many waves have u heard crashing on your shoulders?

interesting patterns

the next aim is to catch the 3pm ferry from sorrento, but again, could only watch the ferry leave. next ferry is 4pm. so had time to walk around sorrento a little.

these are sheltered, clear waters.

for a million dollars: is yongli trying to take a pic of his shadow or the grass?

picture of the sorrento waterfront. notice the trees are upright in the picture, but the sea is a little tilted.

thats my car..ok...only mine for 3 days...on board the vehicular ferry from sorrento to queenscliff. if u need a number to buy 4D, the car plate is UKW 104.

4.50pm and nearing sunset. this is vue grand hotel in queenscliff, one of the many buildings there with a long history.

an old church

another lighthouse. this is the point lonsdale lighthouse.

the beautiful sunset at point lonsdale. one of my favourite pictures for the trip.

zoomed in version with the sun out of the way. every cloud has a silver lining?

i didn't sit on the bench cos i din have anyone to sit on it with me. dear bench, i will come n visit u when i can find sb to occupy the seat with me.

coincidentally, it just drizzled b4 i reached the place.

and its getting dark. from here its on to surf coast highway to torquay. i had intended to reach apollo bay for the night, but im half a day behind..spent too much time exploring the residential areas of mornington, stopped far too often.

now this part is interesting.

i drove into torquay, havent had dinner, havent booked accomodation for the night. didnt even have a proper map of the place. only thing i knew was i was in torquay, which isnt exactly that small an area also. decided to drive up to the beach (general direction la) cos i presume thats where u get some resorts and motels.

reached a T junction, turned left. and got lost inside a residential area.

nice houses, yah, but siao liao la! no fun lor, its getting dark, cold, hungry and scary. didn't take a few turns to realise im lost! do i really have to ding dong other ppl's house to ask for help?

bochup lar, try to find my way out. heng can still find way out, but that only solved half the problem. where am i going to stay for the night?!

i remembered reading that there is a mac on surf coast highway...so i drove back. intended to settle dinner there and ask for directions, but ran into a driver collecting his car so asked him for directions. he very nicely asked me to follow his car n he will bring me to a nice motel (ok, direct me ok, not bring me together to a motel...sounds wrong ;p ) which is near the town.

and so i went back along the same road, the same T-junction, but he very nicely turned right instead. and there lies a 4-star motel.

*phew*

they dont have any more standard rooms, so this was what i got for A$115.

1 king sized bed and 2 single beds. can squeeze 5 ppl if i want. all to myself!

and this is dinner. forget macs. heng i din eat mac. though this is the only restaurant open in the entire town at this hr (nearly 9pm) and the motel restaurant is open only on thurs, fri, sat and sun nights. the rest of the time, guests may eat the grass outside.

this is from pear tree cafe, torquay. costs me A$23, but i tell u, i never thought prawns and scallops could taste soooooo good. its not cos im hungry, cos i saved them for the last. there is no way im not eating this if i ever 'pass by' torquay again.

that concludes the day! went back, plan a bit of the driving route tmr and went to sleep. tmr must chiong very far cos today didnt cover enough distance, and i didnt want to miss the laser show at warrnambool at night.

Melbourne trip (31/8/07 - 6/9/07) Part 1

its a long time since the blog is updated...sorry la. during these months i ORDed from army and started teaching le...still in the process of adjusting. though there is plenty to say about education system, but i better save it for a more private place like a diary, in case i should get into trouble. ;p

okok...just b4 i ORD and join teaching, the restless lone ranger yongli is up to his usual tricks again...so within 2 wks i had the idea to go to melbourne to drive myself around...this time research also not complete, dun care...just chiong...alone, as usual. the ultimate freedom in travelling.

oh, btw in case u read abt me driving in melbourne, i got my license! many frenz scold me for being too daring..just pass only, somemore dunno the place at all then rent car and go play le..but thats the whole idea ma, if not get license for wat? drive in the boring roads in sg meh, must make my first driving experience memorable mah! so i chose the great ocean road as my first 'circuit'.

lemme first list my credits...i have to thank nicole for her kind loan of her camera that made these pictures possible...i just didnt trust the quality of my own digicam. perhaps time to invest in one more oredi.

WARNING: if u get seasick easily, leave this post immediately, because u have countless pictures of the sea.

ok...enuf of rubbish...intro write too long become out of point liao.

31 Aug 07 Friday

call me a swakoo, but i have nv taken a night flight, nv taken SQ, and nv left from terminal 2...so thats 3 records broken for taking SQ237 to melbourne, departing 2335 from T2 and due to arrive 0855 (+1) at tullamarine, melbourne. time zone in melb is 2 hours ahead of sg.

tried to sleep but cant really sleep, so all night i have been playing with the krisworld inflight entertainment system...and replaying the same albums over n over again...jj lin's 西界, steph sun's 逆光, SHE's play album...and a bit of cyndi and ah qin's album. meals and service was good, so no complaints despite losing one night of sleep on the 7h 20 min SQ flight.

1 Sep 07 Saturday

i have always been awake, but the sunrise did wake up all the excitement in me cos it means arrival is near. and i had this nice view from my window as i enjoyed my hot breakfast.

a path to heaven? hehe.

i was told thru the inflight announcement that its a cold morning in melbourne, temp is abt 7°C...woohoo...n im just wearing t-shirt jeans with a thin jacket that is more for decorative purposes that trapping heat that i wear in sg...btw, its late winter and early spring in melbourne, which explains the temperature.

i got off the plane to know what 7°C means....brrr.....sooooo cold! but things got better in the main terminal building where the artificial temperature is much more comfy.

i actually went to melb without a single australian cent in my wallet. from my experience, if u intend to withdraw large amounts like S$500 or so, get a cirrus-enabled atm card and just withdraw at an atm overseas rather than change it back home. you have to pay a $5 admin fee per withdrawal, but it beats paying the huge exchange rate difference anytime anyday!

took a bus from the airport to the city. 20 min only, not like many cities where the airport is dunno where one, like taipei, bkk, kl or jakarta.

its cold walking in the streets of melb, but obviously i had to get to the hotel to dump luggage first. architecture aside, the first thing that caught my attn was the barren trees.

like i always say, ppl always take things for granted..and new things always appear nicer. i was actually quite fascinated by the trees and the beauty. though they're just trees.

10am...checked into my room...a bit noisy from the street outside leh. cos its 2nd floor facing the main road. supposed to be a 4-star hotel but apparently the star ratings in australia a bit more liberal...i've stayed in 4-stars throughout my trip but i think price and quality wise they are nearer 3 to 3½ when measured against places like kl, taiwan, etc. but no complaints! the rooms were still comfortable, clean and the staff was friendly. just the noise la.

so once i reached melbourne, i engaged in an extremely exciting activity...sleep. tired from flight la.

woke up at 12pm and decided i need lunch. heard quite a bit about the variety and quality of food in melb esp chinese and italian food, so decided to wander off to chinatown for lunch before deciding what to do next. enroute, passed by many interesting buildings with unique architechture, including some churches, the courts and the general post office.

melb is pretty random in terms of city planning as u can see...suddenly u find one modern building right smack in the middle of nice old buildings.

this is chinatown. notice the street lamps. chinatown is well, chinatown lor, not like our own sg chinatown looks any different from this.

lunch was wanton mee....the serving is huge, costs me A$8 and the wanton is quite interesting. u can bite into prawns, the rest is meatball but its the elastic and juicy type, not the nua nua type u get here.

after lunch is wander around the city semi-aimlessly...hoping to catch the day tour to philip island but probably wun make it - too late already. so really free and easy la!

churches, other than being a place of worship, usually serve as a preservation of the heritage and the display of the creativity and the fine workmanship. this is the beautiful st paul's cathedral, i wonder why i didn't go in to take a look...sigh.

in front of the cathedral there is this statue of flinders there. look closely.

did u see the bird on his head? haha. he must have been a friendly guy.

further up is federation square, said to be an insight into the lifestyle of they melb city folks as they gather here on weekends. the idol craze is worldwide, and there is a singing competition held at the square when i went.

this is the flinders street train station, and this building is often used as a landmark to identify melbourne. nice building!

notice the network of wires above? these are for the trams ah. trams in melb range from the extremely slow and antique to the extremely modern.

went down to the visitor centre at federation square to collect some info...wah ask them qn also must take queue number to slowly wait...so wasted a bit of time there.

late for my penguin tour oredi, its abt 2.45 pm when i left the visitor centre. walked to elizabeth street to check out the prices of car rental in case i could drive there myself, was A$80...then somemore need to drive my own, pay petrol, and dunno the way around...then better not lar, stay in city better, tmr then go ba...

3.15 pm
took a city circle tram (free of charge) around the city to see the buildings...one round is about 45 minutes. still got commentary one, just like those in the zoo. and its free! melb really know how to cater to tourists. its a great way to get to know the city. meanwhile on the tram can plan what to see for the late afternoon and evening...will visit 3 attractions that are close together: the immigration musuem, the aquarium and the melbourne observation deck. then at night detour to the crown casino.

4 pm
got off the tram to see the immigration musuem. have always taken an interest in seafaring history, due to exposure to the game 'uncharted waters' by koei when i was a child (in fact i still play the old series once in a while to relive those memories). very interesting artefacts and presentations to show the tough life of the immigrants...wah kaoz, cannot sleep on plane for 7.5 hours oredi complain, wat about people who spent months in a ship, weathering the storms and enduring the cramped, unhygenic and boring journey?

then got this cute exhibit that shows some other 'immigrants' that came on the ships too. reason for immigration: "we go where we choose"

5 pm: the melbourne aquarium. colourful corals.

what do you think these are?

i was surprised when i saw the description...these are shark eggs!

melb aquarium was built beside yarra river, and this is the view across the river. the building on the left sure looks like a ruler with the markings. just right of this picture is the crown casino.

5.45 pm
its almost sunset and i want to be on the observation deck to see the scenery by day. somehow at night it is just lights..i prefer the day view. but i did go back at night to see the night view. as it is still late winter and before the equinox, days are still shorter, sunrise is about 7am and sunset about 6pm.

this is the foot of the observation deck. i would call this a picture of contrasts. old and new building side by side, one looking dark and one allowing light to penetrate, and even the trees cant agree whether to be bald or green.

a view from the observation deck, which is 55 storeys high.

buildings look like toys

an advertisement on the rooftop - for who to see? further up are the southern cross train station (another main train station) and the telstra dome, which is an indoor stadium.

sian...captured the reflection cos of the position of the sun.

got down the tower and went to a kebab place that i passed by just now. the kebab was good! apparently it is still cold and nobody pass by there, i could chit chat with the chef, who is a turkish student working part time in melb.

after that it was 7pm and a brief return to the observation deck. then i went down, crossed the bridge to the other side of yarra river and began tapping felt tables and being A$200 richer.

in case u read until blur blur...go casino la! the casino there is really different from the crappy ones u get in genting lor. u have friendly croupiers who will talk to u, more standard odds unlike the genting-style rip-off version of pontoon, and a generally comfortable ambience. in the vip room that is open to all, minimum stakes are A$50-75, and you get drinks served to you for free. baccarat in the vip room allows the highest better for both player and banker to handle the cards, many of them even fold it this way and that lor. those who seen me play in a casino will know why i often get to touch the cards despite betting only A$50-100.

other than that, the crown entertainment complex is huge. restaurants, bars, shopping, clubs, and even a fire performance outdoors at hourly intervals. took a brief walk around the complex and walked back to the hotel sophia along king street.

2 Sep 07 Sunday

The day begins with a trip to the Flagstaff Gardens and Victoria Market. There is this church beside the garden.

This is Victoria Market. Something like a huge pasar malam. maybe pasar pagi, since they open in the day unlike the taiwan and hk markets that light to open at night. u can find about anything and everything there, from clothes to clocks to watches to souvenirs to coasters to nougats to opals...spent a good part of the morning up till 11++ wandering in the market.

longans cost A$12 per kg...wow!

the former working mens college, now part of the RMIT campus

further up from here i was approached by a girl in late teens or early twenties asking me for directions. from the accent, obviously singaporean. wa kaoz, i holding a map and carrying a big backpack lor, quite obvious im a tourist wat. so i could only give her the blur look, try to look inside my map, but cant find anything she wanted.

the royal exhibition hall. quite obvious where the wind is blowing.

St Patrick's Cathedral i think? not so sure cos never ventured that far inside to find out properly.

princess theatre. very delicate architecture, esp the roof structures.

this is the melbourne parliament house. i heard the granite came from grampians!

ok..thats all for the half day city tour by foot...its 12.30pm, time to find lunch n go on a half day tour to see penguins. lunch was a pizza, which is good la. makes sg pizzas taste like dunno what like tt.

first stop was a farm.

there, caught u red-handed!

does spring come earlier in the farm than in the city?

next stop: koala conservation centre
these cuddly fellas are so cute! and they sleep 20h a day. im envious...

this is the noobies on phillip island. during warmer months there are fur seals on the rocks. but during winter months only got rocks and the huges waves that come in and splash water all over. still a nice sight though.

look at those waves...

and the white foam. can imagine the force with which the waves come in.

when i travel alone it is rare to find a picture with me inside. sorry la, if i spoil the picture.

i think i somehow look intelligent in this picture, dun u think so? wahhaha...bhb!

from the top of a cliff

this is where we sit and watch the little penguins as they come on shore

tts how small the penguins are

during the night it was freezing cold....really damn freezing cold. the penguins come in after sunset, but no photography allowed. but they were really really cute! the way they walked with their flippers in front of them as if they will stumble upon them...the way they gather on the beach before making the dash...the way they sway side to side...eww..

I love the sarcasm...

Part 2

(Pendulum)

Verse 1

Verse 2

Chorus

an old piece of work. probably my 2nd piece of work (still dare to take out n show hor)...therefore things like 细雨轻轻地飘  and 凉风轻轻地吹 sound super antique lar....like some 80s song. edited a bit but prechorus and chorus remained intact...
ok, written feb 8 2001, sadly still applicable so still can post.
xiaohan described my lyrics style as jian suan ke bo, looks like i have been like that since dunno when.
first 3 lines of chorus are metaphors, in case they look out of place. have fun with the hidden meanings
