Love is patient.
What is patient? The word “patient” has a lot of meanings. According to what I have learned and what I have looked up in a dictionary, patient is “ to wait calmly for a long time,” and “ to bear or endure pain, trouble, delay etc. without complaints or losing self-control.”
People nowadays don’t like to wait. For some people, they even think waiting is a waste of time. They just can’t wait to see things happened in the way they desire as soon as possible. However, imagine this situation:
You have a son. He is learning how to walk and you are the one who is teaching him walking. Whenever he falls, will you scream at him and refuse to teach him again? No, you certainly will help him stand up and encourage him to walk again. No matter how many times he falls, you are willing to stand by him and see him walk successfully. Sometimes you may go crazy because he just can’t walk well. But I believe you will still bear this delay and hold yourself from anger. Why? It’s all because you love him so much and you are willing to give him as many chances as possible. That’s love.
Hope
Based on Weber Dictionary, when someone has “hope,” he/she has the general feeing of some desires which will be fulfilled. But he/she will never know if their desire can really be fulfilled. They just have the feeling. However, if you go to the Bible, you will know that Hope is one of the virtues of children of God. When we hope, we know that God must fulfill what we desire in a way that benefits us. It’s not a feeling. It’s a promise. God never breaks his promises.
“Hope in God” means you put your hope in God. However, in God’s what? 1. In God’s himself, for hope comes from he himself.
2. In God’s word, for word means his promises instead of your feelings.
