Asia's Top 10 IT Companies
The 2008 BusinessWeek IT 100 includes 37 Asian names, and they're not sitting still. Nintendo leads the way, Bharti Airtel slumps, and LG makes the list

Despite regular predictions that an ever more confident China will eclipse Taiwan, the island remains Asia's clear technology leader. This year's version of the BusinessWeek IT 100 has 37 Asian names, up from 35 a year ago, and once again, Taiwan dominates the list. With 16 companies (including Foxconn International, listed in Hong Kong but controlled by Taiwan's Hon Hai Precision), the island is behind only the U.S., which has 36.
Among this year's biggest losers: India's software-services providers. Companies such as Infosys (INFY) and Wipro (WIT) have taken a hammering over the past year because the falling dollar and slumping U.S. economy have hit business in their largest market. Tata Consultancy Services, for instance, was No. 23 on the IT 100 last year. In our new rankings, it drops off the list completely.
Taiwan's best tech companies aren't sitting still. To reduce their reliance on low-margin manufacturing for outsourcing clients like Motorola (MOT) and Hewlett-Packard (HPQ), some of the island's electronics leaders have been focusing on building their brands. And it's no coincidence that this year's top Taiwanese performers, No. 9 Asustek Computer and No. 10 High Tech Computer, have been among the most aggressive in moving beyond their contract-manufacturing roots to market their own products, such as the innovative Eee PC, to consumers around the world. Here's a look at Asustek, HTC, and the other Asian Top 10 in IT. ─取自http://www.businessweek.com/
