She's making too much of a fuss
She's making too much of a fuss
Dave: How did the PTA meeting go?
Rose:Well, OK for the most part, but one of the mothers from the other end of town talked far too much.
Dave: What about?
Rose: Oh she was making a fuss about the adventure trips the school organizes for the students.
Dave: A fuss about what exactly?
Rose: Well she kept saying that some of the places they were planning to take the kids this year were too far away and too risky.
Dave: I haven't heard any other parent making a fuss about that.
Rose: Nor have I. I think she's making too much of a fuss.
How did the PTA meeting go?
One of the mothers from the other end
of town talked far too much....She was making a fuss
about the adventure trips。
PTA是parent-teacher association(家長教師會)的簡寫,
例如:A PTA can help improve relations between parents and teachers
She made a big fuss about a pimple on her cheek
The other end of town的town一般譯做「鎮」,city則譯做「城市」。
Let's go out for a night on the town
I'm going up to town。
He works in downtown New York(他在紐約商業區工作)又是town和city不辨的例子。
論用法,town假如指你居住或常到的城鎮,習慣不加冠詞(article);
I was not in town/in the city yesterday(
